The Prestigious Haitian Music Awards (PHMA) is one of the most recognized Haitian music award ceremonies celebrating Haitian artists, bands, producers, and cultural figures, especially within the Kompa, gospel, rap, and roots music scenes.

The 10th annual edition took place on January 10, 2026, at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater in North Miami Beach, Florida. The event brought together artists from Haiti and the diaspora for performances, honors, and fan-focused celebrations.

Key highlights of the 2026 edition included:

• Celebration of the award show’s 10th anniversary.
• Recognition of 16 artists and cultural personalities.
• Competition across 15 categories including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Gospel Artist of the Year, Group of the Year, and Video of the Year.
• Inclusion of multiple Haitian music genres such as Kompa, rap, roots, and gospel.

The PHMA nomination process is managed by a committee of roughly 30 music industry professionals including DJs, journalists, producers, promoters, and radio personalities. Nominees are selected based on popularity, releases during the eligibility period, and impact across radio and social media.

The ceremony also featured live performances from notable Haitian and Caribbean artists including:

In parallel with PHMA, the broader Haitian Music Awards (HMA) community also recognized many artists in 2025–2026.

The awards continue to play an important role in promoting Haitian culture internationally and strengthening the visibility of Kompa and Haitian music worldwide. Recent discussions within the Haitian music community also highlighted growing international recognition for Kompa, including its inclusion in Latin Grammy tropical music eligibility discussions.
